My life as a flight attendant, and a as a young woman. This is another blog from one of million flight attendants, just because it sounds fun! Words of random thoughts, places, people, ideas and more. I'm a happy, go lucky girl, and just living day by day. Looking for adventures, laughs, love, and good times in my new city as well as others!

Wow

So here’s the thing, I haven’t flown since March 11th. Debating to pull my hair out with boredom lately. Though I have to say there is a lot that has happened since then. Here we go.

So first off I spent 2 weeks with my family in my home town. Which was relaxing and fun all in one, also got a lot done such as getting my full license! Boo-ya on my part. Went drinking with my brothers and cousin, hung with my sista, saw my dance school from back in the day for St.Patick’s day, and got my teeth cleaned. Just before coming home I started becoming very sick. When I got back to my home base I was so sick with the flu that I had to book off my turn at the end of march. Ended up going to the hospital and all that jazz. But all healthy and happy now! While this was happening Bee a week back broke her wrist snowboarding, and is now recovering for about 3months. Which means no flying for her, and no buddy bidding for us! Jeez we’re such a pair hey?

Next on the list Bee and I found a place!!!!! It is so exciting after everything we’ve gone through with this last year, it’s nice to move to something new. It really is a breath of fresh air. Ok so i’m going to try and explain the place as best as I can though I will be putting pic’s up as soon as we move in, which if all goes well will be May 26th fingers crossed! So to start off it’s a three storey house just off a Park area. We luckily have the top floor, and its huge and super artsy for two people. It has an old feeling to it, as well as having stairs on the outside of the house to the entrance. The apartment has a small kitchen and bathroom, a living/dining room, a sunroom, and 2 bedrooms though one is as big as the living room. Which Bee has given me….sigh don’t know what to do with all the space yet. We are very excited to move in!

Next month seems promising to as I will be going to London on the 16th to see the other side of my family there. Can’t wait!

I’ll try and keep touch more!

Red eyes and tanning!

So I’m currently on a 5 day pairing right now, with Bee! It’s cute cause since we’re roommates and friends we’ve been sharing our hotel rooms together, a lot less lonely thats for sure. Ever since we’ve met I swear we’ve been attached to the hip. It’s kinda of odd though cause we have not gotten sick of each other yet… though I think us being so laid back helps. Ok but on with where i’ve been and where I’m off to. So far we’ve stayed in Cancun for 14hrs where a bunch of us sat by the beach and tanned/slept. Couldn’t help shutting our eyes with the relaxing ocean waves cooing us to sleep. Though my burnt butt and back aren’t too happy about it. No, no I did have sunscreen on this time… Bee made sure of that. Gotta love her momma nature about her. Oh and on a side note I highly recommend chicken quesadillas in Mexico, sooo yummy especially with their house made guacamole. After Cancun we set off to do a turn out of YEG to PVR. Which was a brutal red eye flight, though thankfully the passengers were all pretty relaxed and sleeping. Had some pretty bad turbulence for half an hour, to be honest one of the most turbulence I’ve had yet since i’ve started flying. So next i’m off to Panama City again for more tanning and sitting by the pool side, most likely grabbing a cocktail seeing as we will be there for over 20hrs. Whoop Whoop!
Well i’m going to sleep a little longer until dinner with the crew at 18:00.

Nighty night!

Amazing!

Soooo on the 19th I got called for a 1445 flight to POP and back. The best part of the whole thing was that I flew with a bunch of people from my training group! Seeing as it has been ages since we’ve all been together we decided to all hangout the next day for a game night. What brought up this game night was one of the girls knew of a cafe that has almost every board game known to man that you only had to pay 5 dollars for the entrance fee. I haven’t had that much fun with a group in ages. We ended up playing an intense game of Apples and Apples, 90’s Trivial Pursuit, and Dirty Minds. So the group of us decided to make game night a common occurrence! Soooo stoked, considering we’re planning on making them themed as well, like tux and cocktail dresses, survivor, and so on. Can’t wait!

On a side note I can run for about 20mins straight now!!! My stamina is coming back to me! Three quarters of the way to half an hour, and to my 5k goal! I just need to lay off the junk food.

Oh also Bee and I have decided to move deeper into the core downtown. Just cause next month we’ll no longer be on reserve and will have schedules! You have no idea how much a relief it will be to no longer clinging to my cell phone waiting to be called to fly off some where. Instead knowing exactly when i’ll be away and when i’ll be home. Extremely thankful that I have Bee right now as well. We’ve been going through bit of a ruff batch with something, and just having her with me is making life a bit more bearable at the moment. Love you girly!

Hot to Cold to Hot Again

Dominican Republic to Edmonton to Jamaica and home again. A pairing of four days! Danced the night away drinking wine and swimming in the ocean with no care in the world. To pizza night in my Flight directors room in Edmonton, as it was too cold to really do anything else. Then more dancing and funky monkey smoothies in Jamaica. People definitely make a pairing either amazing or not. My one really good friend Erika was on the pairing with me and being quiet close friends (since we did training together) we shared hotel rooms as long as they had double beds. So it was like a sleepover night after night!

If you’re ever in Jamaica make sure you grab yourself a beef patty!! They are delicious! If you don’t know where to get one you can always ask in the airport just before you go home. Cause its almost certain you’ll be able to get one before leaving such a warm place. Though wasn’t a fan of how muggy and smelly Jamaica was.

Oh and if you’re wondering how my training for the 5k is going I can officially run for 11mins straight…though more of a jog but i’m happy with it!

And now some Pics!!

Panama city= lovely weather and pool sides
Good Earth in Regina= best earl grey lattes :)

+30 to -30

Well, my last pairing was about a week ago now, but was awesome none the less.
It went like this deadhead to Miami, Miami to Panama City, stay in Panama City for 21hrs…got a mad burn because I forgot sunscreen and sat by the pool for 4hrs. Ps I’m white…like whiter then white…pretty much albino. After the lovely stay in Panama worked from there to Saskatoon and in the same night flew to Regina, about 8hrs flying time in total. Stayed in Regina for about 14hrs where I had gone from plus 30 to minus 30…yeah it sucked. After Regina operated back to Saskatoon, stayed in Sask for about another 14hrs and then deadheaded home :) about a four day pairing loved it! I think what made it better was the crew was all from my training group. No seniors! Though I love most of them, its nice knowing you can do it without them breathing down your neck.

Sorry for the short little blah about flying I promise to go in to detail next time
